In July 2018, after 30 years of no contact, friends from the Engineering Industry Training Board (EITB) apprentice program reunited and met in a Sheffield pub.
There they learnt of the heart condition plight of Nigel Winder and the support he was given over the decades by his loving wife Rachael and her family, Nigels family and their friends not to mention all the staff at Northern General and Hallamshire hospitals in Sheffield.
So, after a few beers one evening in October 2018, the friends decided that they would raise money for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) in recognition of the amazing work they do.
In April 2019, Team EITB was officially formed and they embarked on their first team charity fund raiser - 'The Way of the Roses' coast to coast bike ride.
Team EITB has now decided to raise money for several charities including;
- British Heart Foundation (BHF)
- Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY)
- Victa: Charity for Blind and Partially Sighted Children
- Lost Chord: Charity for people suffering from Dementia
- Cancer Research UK
- MacMillan Cancer Support
